Winding down and almost ready to start packing
Out for a run this morning, I found a couple of statues that made me miss our dogs.
I have been trying to get some pictures to describe the looks I get out on the street and finally got one. Not that runners are nonexistent, just a rarity. (given this gentleman's expression!) I have a few days left to try to get a few more.
Here is one entrance to the Lake Park. Typical wheelchair?/stroller ramps over big steam lines. The big stroller is just narrow enough to fit.
Katja's Kukla needs a new battery! She only speaks half the time, not coherently, and thankfully at a much lower volume.
We went out for a walk on Lenin Street (sign above) on a beautiful day. The way Artome flails about in the stroller, he gets his hat turned sideways on his head and people occasionally stop to politely point this out to us.
A normally busy bus stop right next to the stand that sells umbrellas, purses and belts.  This picture is for my Mom and her buds at KC Metro!  :)
Two women raking leaves on the boulevard.  Look closely for the cat watching the action.  And a camera-shy woman working a small stand. She sells knit work and some fruit.
Tonight after their bath, Katja and Artome played their favorite game of  lining the kuklas on top of the couch and then throwing them down.  Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.  After they threw the kuklas down they performed a funny little dance and song and clapped their hands.  It must be a song they learned at the Baby House because they were both singing and clapping in unison!. To Jim and I it reminded us of Katherine Hepburn's dance in the movie On Golden Pond.
Tomorrow we are going out shopping one last time with Nastia and then we will have the WPA gang join us here for dinner and some drinks.  We have a lot of leftover supplies that we never needed that we can pass on and hopefully that cycle will repeat itself as more new families eventually arrive and others leave. We have our plane tickets for the flight to Almaty on Sunday morning!   It is getting closer!
