Today brought a surprise drop in temperature and even a few snow flurries. Just when you think spring has come to Karaganda, the hats and gloves came back out. We had just a short walk today as we spent most of the day waiting to make some departure arrangements with Natasha and a local Notary (No offense, Mary Lee!). We did some papers to expedite the kids passports, and paid for our plane tickets to Almaty. Yahoo! Also, we saw a partial solar eclipse here today.
So, being in the child entertainment business today, we started with the morning russian paper, and moved on to some sounds recorded on the digital voice recorder.
Two bowls of cheerios occupied them...
For a while.
We had one of Maddie barking, and one of a pilot giving a pre-takeoff passenger briefing from the Almaty-Karaganda flight that fascinated them for a few minutes. (and brought scary flashbacks to Cecelia)
The favorite is one we made of Katja playing "Where's Kukla?" Here she hears her own voice on the computer speakers. It scared them at first, but then it was hysterical laughter!
Then we hit upon the best occupation of the day. Child labor!
Katja washes dishes like a pro having been schooled by the Babushka's at the Baby House.
Tomorrow we will finish up a little shopping and a few errands and then perhaps start packing. We apologize that our website has become a little more boring each day, but after 7 weeks we're beat! Perhaps our posts from Almaty will be a little more glamorous! We miss all of you and can't wait for you to meet the kids!
