But first, more running in Karaganda. We had noticed some tall light standards in the distance during the commute in the the Baby House days, so I set out this morning to find what we thought they belonged to, a Soccer Stadium. All the gates were locked, but there were some people doing turf repair after the frost heaves.
These ladies are concluding a fish transaction. On some corners there are people selling all sorts of food or other goods. No credit cards accepted.
Nastia loaned us a toy car for the rest of our stay. Artome did a backflip off of it early on, so now he likes riding it backwards.
Dinner! Hotdogs, cheese and buttered fresh bread. They obviously aren't used to butter on their bread and licked it all off and wanted more! Boy, are they joining the right family or what?
Rrunning in the under street tunnels past the vendors setting up shop for the day.
At last a running trail! This creek flows into the Lake Park and is open in places, and undercover elsewhere. In any case, no traffic and diesel fumes here.
While Cecelia and Nastia are doing some quick shopping, Katja and Artome are hanging out in the big square downtown.
We met this nice little girl and her Grandmother three days ago downtown, and we ran into them again today. She chatted up Katja and Artome and is of course fascinated with the giant stroller.
Mario Pizza again! French Fries for the first time! They both loved them!
Cecelia and Nastia negotiate the mud puddles that are thankfully beginning to dry out. You do not want to walk through this muck if you don't have to. I'm glad I brought the hard core boots!
Today was great because we were able to really get out and walk quite a ways. The weather was really nice. Sunny, no wind and about 50 plus F. Nastia joined us and we did a little shopping and stopped for another great lunch at Mario Pizza. The day went pretty quickly and as we are now counting down the days until home, that is a good thing! We think the kids are even starting to get a little antsy as we are convinced they realize that we are not home yet! Tomorrow we are going on another long walk and perhaps try some food from the local street vendors. It sure smells good!
