Katja is studying pictures from home. She was especially interested in the dogs!
Artome entertains himself with a spoon and a sippy cup. Now when we get to the Baby House they drink their juice as fast as they can just so they can play with the cups.
From left: Al, Sara, Julie, Will, Oxana, Sonja, Nastia and Jim. Al and Sara live outside of DC and Will and Julie live near Atlanta. Both couples are with WPA. It was fun to hang out with them again. Nice people!
The ladies in the far back work here and every time we have been here (10 times or so) are always sitting around this table chit chatting and occasionally giving us weird looks! :) We're usually the only people in here at noon since most people here take their lunch break at 1 pm.
The President of Kazakhstan. Nursultan A. Nazarbayev. He recently won re-election with 91% of the vote.
From the walls of the Baby House visiting rooms. The official seal of The Republic of Kazakhstan.
We're not sure what these say, but found them very impressive and official looking!
The great news of the day was that Julia and Antonio, Kimba and Sally all had successful court hearings today! Congratulations to them! We are so happy for them and they will be fabulous parents! Julia and Antonio will go back to Spain during the waiting period (approx. 3 weeks) and Kimba and Sally are staying here like we are.
We'll see if we can get together with them when we all have our kids. That will be a sight to see! A little different than our quiet meal at the Cosmonaut Hotel the other night!
Happy families!
Today was cold here in Karaganda. It was snowing lightly on and off with a brisk wind. We did some grocery shopping after lunch with Nastia and she helped us with what to buy for the kids. Mashed potatoes, pasta, oatmeal, soup, chicken hotdogs, cheese and kid-friendly snacks. We'll figure it out as we go along but wanted to start them out with food that they eat at the Baby House.
