We were able to spend a bit of time this morning in the big room where Katja and Artome live with the rest of their group. It is heartbreaking, and humbling to be among these children who recieve such great love and care from the staff here, yet crave attention and contact from the outside world.
We were moved to a different apartment today. You may recognize the chair at right as the one Julie Ohtaki, baby Robbie, and her Mother were sitting in on the night before they left. It is just a bit smaller than our other place but with a better shower, clothes washing machine and is located just across the street from the Kazakh QFC. Also on the ground floor, so no stairs for big green suitcase!
We are not sure which ones are available for referral, and which continue to have contact from parents or family members. All however are so eager to play, and are talkative. You just have to crouch, or kneel down and you have a circle of children around you handing you toys, and grabbing your hands.
We had another fine day in our hallway. We plan to ask the Babushkas for another outside outing when we have a good weather day
